Joy Adams's Experience:
-
Board Member at Net Impact London Professional
June 2011 - June 2012I worked with Net Impact London Professional as a communications manager by: taking and uploading photos onto FB, updating the website, organizing events, blogging and managing the FB, LinkedIn and Twitter feeds. Net Impact is a network of MBAs, graduate students and professionals committed to using the power of business to improve the world. It operates in over 75 cities.
-
Community Investment and Communications Coordinator at The City of South San Francisco
November 2007 - March 2011My role at the City of South San Francisco gave me first-hand experience on how to develop large scale programs from beginning to end. This position required me to wear many hats at the same time and think of innovative ways to complete my goals. I managed a $2 million budget, developed teams, searched for and prepared grant applications, and interfaced with local residents. I am a strong believer in educating the community about recent developments and opportunities. While in this role, I had the opportunity to write small business e-newsletters and brochures, plan events, create website content, and take a leadership role on a website overhaul. At this time, I also became more interested in energy policy and had the opportunity to manage programs related to solar panels, loft insulation, weatherization, and a graduate eco-training scheme. I reported to a redevelopment manager and a communications manager.
-
Public Relations Intern at Ogilvy Public Relations
March 2007 - May 2007During the spring of 2007, I spent three months learning more about communications and media relations. Under the instruction of some amazing staff members, I learned all about the tools needed to pitch stories to the media, write press releases, prepare press clippings, and assemble client documents. One of my projects was to prepare sections of a CSR report, which interested me because of my policy and economic development background. I reported to a communications manager within the company.
-
Project Manager at Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
August 2006 - January 2007After finishing graduate school, I did the Leadership Development Program (LDP) at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Based in the Statistical Analysis Office, I completed various tasks within this department and other departments, including HR and IT. The goal of the program was to provide insight to various sectors of the bank. This experience provided me with a lot of insight into how a financial institution is managed and the skills needed to balance a multitude of goals at the same time.
-
Government and Regulatory Affairs at Deutsche Bank
August 2013 -
Internal Communication and Engagement, Group Finance at Deutsche Bank
August 2011My role at DB encompasses a variety of responsibilities such as blogging, writing articles, online community management and culture change. I have worked on a variety of projects, including developing and launching a microsite for our global audience and interviewing senior managers for intranet articles. My role increasingly encompasses measurement efforts to help quantify the impact of our communications and engagement planning. This includes creating surveys and analysing data using SurveyMonkey and Google Analytics.
